Self-drilling sleeved grouting pipes

Durvinil® SD system is formed by a Durvinil® sleeved grouting pipe dragged by a self-drilling steel head.

The sleeved pipe is used to consolidate the soil through repetitive and selective high pressure grouting.

The system is used to install the grouting pipe in loose soil or below the groundwater table, where it is not possible to apply the temporary coating in the drilled holes before inserting the pipe. It can also be used to insert the grouting pipes through the TBM’s shield, in order to consolidated the soil while advancing before excavation. The presence of Durvinil® in the soil doesn’t hinder the grinding by an excavation bucket or by the TBM itself, which would be impossible if steel pipes were used for the pre-consolidation.

The Durvinil® SD system includes:

  1. a disposable metallic self-drilling crown with a threaded border where the grouting  pipe is fitted;
  2. a reusable pilot tip that attaches to the crown during drilling and is recovered after the grouting pipe is installed;
  3. steel drilling rods;
  4. PVC Durvinil® pipe 75 mm OD which, thanks to the pilot tip and crown, does not endure rotation during drilling.

The density and depth of the grouting pipes implanted vary based on the project, the soil’s characteristics and the specific drilling probe available.
